Simple syrup got it’s name for a reason…it’s simple! It’s equal parts sugar and water that you can really flavor any way you want. This basil simple syrup was inspired for a cocktail, and can be used in a number of things from iced sweet tea to desserts!

Basil Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 cup whole fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and water in a sauce pan over medium heat

  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves and it comes to a simmer

  3. Stir in the fresh basil leaves

  4. Simmer on low for about 8-10 minutes; stirring occasionally

  5. Allow to cool and remove the basil leaves

  6. You can store this in a sealed container and refrigerate
