I LOVE copper! I think it all started when I was a kid, and saw how beautiful copper pots and pans were in extravagant kitchens, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. We usually see copper in expensive kitchen details, and now we are seeing it all over the place! From home decor to office decor, copper is everywhere. People are loving metallics like copper and gold, geometric shapes like terrariums, and also the industrial look, which is what inspired me to create this iPad holder.

The mix of industrial and chic is what I love seeing in home decor, and that is what this iPad holder is all about. The industrial look of the pipes, but the chic look of the copper, creates a really cool balance. Copper pipes may not seem like the easiest thing to work with, but it is really not complicated. You can talk to anyone at the hardware store, and they will make sure you have all of the correct items. I listed below what you need, but it is always good to have reassurance when you are there. I didn’t know they made all these different kinds of “elbows” for pipes, so it is good to make sure you are on the right track.

The most important thing is that you find a pipe cutter that will cut through copper. I decided to buy one that was adjustable so that I wasn’t stuck with just a 1/2 pipe cutter. What if I want to cut a 1/4 inch pipe? Then I would have to get a new one?? No…get one that is adjustable. You need the pipe cutter because the pipe will come in a 5 foot long pipe that you will need to cut yourself.

You will also want to clean your copper, and I find that the best way to do this is with either lemon and salt, or ketchup! Yes, ketchup! It works! Just apply a layer of ketchup to the pipe, allow to sit for a little bit, and then wipe away. I swear it works!
