Cut Your Own Christmas Tree
One of my favorite memories of the holiday season growing up was going to the Christmas tree farm to get our tree. There is a place where I grew up that we would go to every year because they had everything you wanted... play areas for kids, hot chocolate, food, festive decorations, places for pictures, and TREES! This place is called Kluck's Nursery in Saginaw, Michigan. My family has been going there for as long as I can remember. The service is everything you want from a family Christmas tree farm, you leave with the best popcorn balls ever (besides my moms), and so many memories. Kluck's is a family owned company that has been planting trees since the late 1920's.
My mom always does such cute things for us and our kids when we come home to make everything so special. I wanted to share/showoff some of her creativeness. My parents get so excited to go and do these things with our kids and they don't miss a beat. After our Christmas tree cutting adventure at Kluck's we came home to a rustic spread of hearty soups, gingerbread, and hot chocolate. My Aunt Leah is an amazing florist and owner of a flower shop called Grohman's Greenhouse in Mid-Michigan Area. She put together this really fun "Cut Your Own Christmas Tree" centerpiece for us. I mean, how cute!?! My mom always finds the best things to add the littlest details to her displays. Here are some of the fun things from our day.
Being a Southern California boy, Grant wasn't exactly sure how he felt about the cold weather and layers. When he was distracted by the slide and other things to play on he seemed to forget!
Warming up by the fire pit! I love this picture because you can see my nephew in the background like, "ok guys, I'm not cold... let's go play!"
I love these little Christmas trees. You should be able to find them at nurseries... I actually found some at Trader Joe's when I came back to LA.
This was the table that my mom set up for the boys.
