DIY Floral Headbands
Floral headbands are everywhere right now! Whenever Coachella hits, it trickles down to everyone no matter if they go to the hippie themed music festival or not. Coachella, if you don't know, takes place in the desert, and it is basically like Woodstock...at least what I envision Woodstock to be!!
I have seen Coachella "festival" themed clothing at places like H&M, and since I am not cool enough to go to the festival (and have zero desire), I still love the style and the theme. So, when one of my best friends who I have known my entire life wanted to do her bachelorette party in Palm Springs (aka, the desert), I thought adding in a bit of the Coachella theme would be fun. Instead of doing t-shirts, hats, or anything like that, I thought that I would make us floral headbands that we could wear throughout the entire weekend. I made pretty pink ones for all of the guests and a white one for the bride.
We stayed at the very beautiful Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, and wore our floral headbands throughout the entire weekend. Many of the floral headbands you see are made with floral wire, and real flowers. They are very beautiful, but in my mind they don't seem to be the most practical or lasting. I wanted to make headbands that were adjustable, since I wasn't sure how big everyones head was, and because I knew we were going to be wearing them a lot, I wanted to make them durable.
These are very easy to make!!
DIY Floral Headbands
Burlap twine; or something similar
Wire cutter; optional depending on the fake flowers you buy, and if you want to use the fake leaves as well, they make need to be removed from the "branches" with wire cutters
*Measure out how long you would like the ribbon and twine to be; make sure you keep it longer than the circumference of your head so that they can be adjustable for different head shapes; I used three pieces of twine and one piece of ribbon
*Tie a knot in the end leaving some slack, then braid the rest, and tie another knot in the other end leaving slack on that end as well; see pictures below
*Glue the fake flowers onto the braided twine/ribbon
