DIY Clay Heart Charms for Valentine’s Day
I know wine might be overdone as a gift, but that’s because it is always a good gift! Who doesn’t like getting a bottle of wine? So, in the effort to make it a little extra special, I thought that it would be fun to add a little decoration for Valentine’s Day. You can do this for any holiday you like! All you need to make the shape is a cookie cutter.
I love anything that is marbled! The marble look is so popular right now, we are seeing it everywhere, so why not in little wine bottle charms. For a more in depth tutorial on how to make the marble look, watch the video here!
It really is amazing how many things you can make with clay. I like using the oven-bake clay. It is easy to use, and I feel like it shapes and holds much better than the air dry clay.
Supplies:
Oven-Bake Clay in desired colors
Rolling pin, or something similar for rolling it out
Wax paper
Parchement paper; optional
Baking sheet
Directions:
*Choose at least two different colors of clay
*Roll out on a covered surface (I like the silicone mats that I roll out pie dough on) into a long strip
*Repeat with the other colors
*Place them together and roll into one piece
*Fold it in half
*Roll it out again; and fold in half and roll again (see pictures below)
*Roll until it creates a “marbled” look
*Use your hands to press the clay into a round shape; you can also place it between two sheets of wax paper and roll it out with a rolling pin
*Use a heart cookie cutter to cut out the clay
*Place the heart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
*Use a straw to create a hole in a place on the heart
*Follow the directions on the box to bake the clay
*Allow to dry completely and you have your own marbled jewelry holders
