Ahhhh chocolate…..

I mean… really…. it’s one of the best things ever.  Chocolate makes everything better and you can basically put chocolate sauce on everything right?  Chocolate sauce can be overly sweet and flat tasting.  I like making mine with brown sugar, cinnamon, coffee, and vanilla.  The brown sugar adds a nice earthy molasses richness that I just love.  These additions create layers of flavor and depth.  I like pouring it over ice cream, desserts, baking with brownies, and mixing in with

Fudgy Brown Sugar Chocolate Sauce

1 cup whole milk

1/3 cup cocoa powder (I like Dutch Process)

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

1 tablespoon espresso (or coffee)

cinnamon stick (optional)

pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla



*In a bowl combine the sugar, cocoa, and salt

*Whisk to combine

*Pour milk in a sauce pan

*Add sugar mixture to the milk and whisk together

*Continue to whisk mixture over medium heat; add in the chocolate chips

*Add in the cinnamon stick

*Continue to whisk and bring the mixture to just under a boil

*Simmer for about 5-8 until everything is incorporated

*Remove from heat and whisk in the coffee and vanilla

*Use immediately or let cool completely and store in a sealed container and refrigerate
