valentine's day table

Valentine’s Day is one my favorite holidays…basically because I love all the feminine colors and it’s a perfect excuse to use them all together. Since the table is really the hub for all things holiday, at least in my home, setting it up to look really pretty makes celebrating the holiday even more special.

When setting a table, it’s important to think about adding different elements of dimension and texture. For this table I added a pink linen tablecloth and an off-white linen runner. I added wood chargers for an earthy element that makes for a nice contract to all the femine feels, and topped it with a light pink plate. To add a fun  little DIY element, I added a bright red napkin and folded it in the shape of an envelope. The heart on top is made by simply cutting a piece of white felt.

The center of the table is the star. One of my favorite ways to make store-bought flowers look more impressive is to put them in bud vases and spread them around. I did a mix of pretty light pink roses with pink ranunculus, two of my favorite flowers. The variety of bud vases also adds a variety of height. The mix or flowers is sophisticated and effortless all at the same time. I personally love to have candles on the table when possible, so, I added gold candle stick holders with pink candles.

When I want to make a table feel really special, I bring out my mom’s stemware and silverware. It’s so nostalgic for me plus it always feels so elegant.
